Calgary girl Ava Cochlan follows circus dreams with the Vizard Theatre Show in February

A local aspiring acrobatic performer named Ava Cochlan is chasing her circus dreams by working towards auditioning for Cirque du Soleil in the summer of 2017. Leading up to this audition, in preparation, she has performed hand balancing and contortion to hundreds of people in western Alberta during corporate events, fundraisers, sporting banquets, and hotel grand openings. Most recently, Ava entertained during the sold out VIZARD show, that took place on the twenty fifth of February. Cochlan is trained by former Cirque du Soleil performer, Tyler Ayres, in flexibility, handstands, and performance.

Previously to pursuing a career in hand balancing and contortion, Cochlan competed at a world level in acrobatic gymnastics while representing team Canada. She has competed at the acrobatic gymnastics World Age Group competition in Florida 2012 (claiming the highest Canadian score of the competition) and showcased her skills at the World Gymnastics in Lausanne, Switzerland 2011.

Cochlan also strives towards excellence in other areas of performance such as music and acting. She is currently working towards her grade nine Royal conservatory of Music certification in piano, and is represented and trained in acting by Platinum Talent Management.

Ava hopes to inspire other young people that are currently pursuing the arts, and set an example that taking creative risks, both within and outside of a main goal, can have great reward.
