Island Tea With Althea Is To Be On OMNI TV In September! She is now filming for her episodes! OMNI TV will be airing her show on Omni Alberta

What is it like being a woman in today’s world, in your eyes?
A. Being a woman in today’s world is difficult. Some days I feel like giving up; Its the grace of God why i don’t give up. Being a woman means that you have to be able to wear many hats. You have to be a mother, a spouse, and a professional. We also know that we will not be put on the same level as our male counter parts which can be discouraging. So today’s woman have to be mentally tough.

2. What was your first break in entertainment?
I really never had a break in entertainment till tight now .and I hope to make the best of it. My new show is an amazing start to my journey of supporting people and sharing their stories.

3. Tell us what your new show is about
The new show is call island tea. It’s about island people getting together to discuss issues that affects the community.

4. What drives you to host your show?
A. I just wanted to provide a place where people can come together and talk about issues that they feel are important to them. I also wanted to allow our community to be educated about issues that we don’t openly discuss within the community. For example we had a show about the LBTQ community. It was important to have the guest reflects the community.

5. Have you faced racism in your career before and what did you have to go through?

A. Yes I have. I have faced racism within our community. It was difficult to handle! We are not tough at a young age that racism exist in our community, so when I faced it it was hard to handle because I didn’t have the appropriate tools to deal with it. I’ve dealt with it by educating myself about black history and black culture. With the knowledge I gained I came to understand why this occurs and use it to motivate myself.
