Stardale Women’s Group in Calgary is hosting their first Charity Gala this Friday, May 12th!
Stardale offers an educational footprint for Indigenous girls in Calgary and area that incorporates a prevention model of life skills and literacy which builds upon creative outward expression in the arts to address abuse, toxic stress and violence. The event will be held back at; Spolumbo’s Fine Food & Deli, and Camilla di Giuseppe from Calgary CTV will be the MC for the evening.
The evening will be packed full of excitement with a featured fashion show with the Indigenous girls of Stardale modelling designs are from Apt 22 – owner Kim Stern. There will be DJ Armin Hammer spinning tunes, live music from Calgary acts including Bobby Soul, special guest appearance by Oscar Lopez, hilarious stand-up comedian Kris LaBelle and his 9 year old son Dominic, and many more to be announced.
We also will have a silent Auction with a variety of items donated from our Calgary community. Already at 25+ items, we are thankful for the support.
To compliment the festive event, wine, liquor or beer can be purchased.
Beautiful platters of cold cuts, complimentary of our good friends at Spolumbos Fine Foods & Deli, will be served.
The doors open at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $40 per person, 1 free drink included. VIP Packages are $100, which includes free beverages and food and a copy of I’m Here With Magazine. Dress code in affect; Business & Semi Formal.

The fashion show will showcase the girls from Stardale and the clothing from Kimberlie Stern of APT22.
The group of indigenous girls aged 10-17 to walk to runway at the event in APT 22.
The goal of the Stardale is to introduce an educational footprint for Aboriginal girls in Calgary and area that incorporates a prevention model of life skills and literacy which builds upon creative outward expression in artistic theatre to address abuse, toxic stress and violence.
Stardale has twenty years of experience working specifically in the areas of violence and abuse prevention with Aboriginal women and girls. In the past ten years in Calgary and area, Stardale has offered a holistic program Model and positively impacted the lives 486 Aboriginal girls who are at –risk for experiencing violence, sexual exploitation and other destructive behaviors in their lives. Our target age is 10 -17 years and whose families are financially vulnerable.

Nicholas Bacigalupo & Michella Klyne from Madflower Creative Group, have collectively been creating events in Calgary and around the globe, for over 20 years.
“This is a place for them to feel safe – there’s unconditional love for them and they can learn all these great skills,” said Stardale’s executive director and founder Helen McPhadden.
The girls, who meet once a week, have been practicing their runway walks in preparation for the Stardale Charity Gala on Friday where they strut their stuff in clothes from Apt 22 and Cody & Sioux – all in the name of charity.
McPhadden said the girls who were too shy to walk down a runway at first have grown more confident over the weeks they have been practicing and “can’t wait” for the show.
