CANADIAN STAR CHAD ROOK

When asked what movie got him wanting to become an actor, Masters of the Universe was not the answer expected. Hearing Chad Rook – actor, director and writer - gush about Skeletor and He-Man and Dolph Lundgren, you could hear this boyish enthusiasm in his voice, as if he was still watching the movie even

now talking about it. This movie made a definitive impression on young Chad Rook that even now resonates very much with the career path he's taken. He's following in the footsteps of the icons he watched growing up.

Becoming Iconic

Iconic roles in well known series is Rook's wheelhouse. Currently he plays Deputy McLanahan in Joe Pickett, based off the novels by CJ Box set in small town Wyoming.

Joe Pickett is a very popular book series filled with great character drama, and filled with a tonnes of nuance, and doesn't fit the same mold other series like it in the past had embraced.

“This show is edgy, it's funny, but it's also gory, and a lot of fun [to do].” Joe Pickett is airing now on Spectrum.

He also plays Richard Aiken in the upcoming Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. According to Rook, is doing its best to be as faithful to the material of the video game than Milla Jovavich's first series.

“The movie just isn't an action movie, but it's also horror movie. I loved the games and this movie is going to feel like the games fans remember.”

When asked about which Resident Evil game was his favorite, Rook acknowledged the Remake of the original game.

The Many Roles You Don't See

On top of that, another major film called Dangerous is an action film in which Rook stars alongside Mel Gibson and plays Blanchard, a mercenary. All these great things that are happening right now, came from hard work and a lot of dedication.

“A lot of people when they look at acting they see the one role, the one where the red carpet is involved.

They don't see the seventy-two roles you try to get into. They don't the money and time you have to invest in the headshots or the publicity you have to do.” It's very cliche to say that acting is a tough business to break into, but it's the truth.

Looking at Chad's IMDB page, it took twenty years of work for Chad to see some of the results he is seeing. This work is not for the feint of heart.

A Second Childhood

ln addition to being an actor, Chad is also a writer and director. He is currently working on production on his film The Asylum, and his film The Perfect Pick Up has been distributed worldwide by Bayview and Shoreline Entertainment.

There's definitely a sense of drive and not settling for anything less than his best. You can see it in the work he does. That amazing work ethic aside, the incredible thing about Chad Rook is that in some ways he is still very much the kid that watched Masters of the Universe, with one crucial difference. “I'm not dreaming about doing this as a kid anymore. Now I am doing it all as an actor.”

As an award-winning actor, director, writer and producer known for his versatility in the roles he selects, Chad Rook's multitude of credits over the past 20 years have spoken for themselves. With roles such as Clyde Mardon, the weather-controlling super villain on "The Flash (2014)", to the villainous soldier, Boyle on "War for the Planet of the Apes (2017)", Chad continues to show his passion for creating memorable characters on both the big screen and small.

His roles on such hit TV Series as, "Siren (2018)", "The 100 (2014)", "Virgin River (2019)", "Supernatural (2005)" and "Timeless (2016)" have made the Canadian-born actor a fan-favorite among TV and film fans alike.

In 2020, Chad won a Leo Award for "Best Performance by a Male" for his two-character portrayal in the Drama/Thriller film, "We Came From the Sea (2020)". He also recently obtained world-wide distribution with Bayview Entertainment and Shoreline Entertainment for his Comedy Feature Film, "The Perfect Pickup (2020)", which Chad, wrote, directed, produced and starred in. Chad is in production of his next film, "The Asylum", which is slated to begin filming in the summer of 2022 where he will once again take the role of director, writer and producer.
