Award Winning Sean Cisterna’s latest film ‘From the Vine’

From the Vine, the new feature film from award-winning director Sean Cisterna, makes its northern debut at Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival.


The film stars Emmy winner Joe Pantoliano, best known for his work on The Sopranos,Memento and The Matrix, as well as Canadian icon Wendy Crewson (The Santa Clause, Air Force One), Italian acting legend Marco Leonardi (Cinema Paradiso, Like Water for Chocolate) and Paula Brancati. 


“From the Vine was filmed in both Ontario and in Basilicata, Italy”, says Cisterna, “and will definitely resonate to not only lovers of wine and winemaking, but also those who come from Italian or European ancestry”.  


Cisterna, whose previous films Kiss and Cry (2017) and Moon Point (2012) both screened to full houses at Cinéfest, will attend the premiere along with actress Paula Brancati, and Ken Cancellara, the novelist whose book Finding Marco is the basis forFrom the Vine



The northern premiere of From the Vine screened on September 19 at 1:00pm at Cineplex.

Sean Cisterna - Sean Cisterna is a multi award-winning Canadian filmmaker who recently produced and directed From the Vine (2019), an international coproduction set around the world of Italian wine, starring Emmy winner Joe Pantoliano.


Cisterna produced and directed the critically acclaimed teen cancer drama Kiss and Cry (2017), which topped the English-Canadian box office upon its release, and is currently streaming on Netflix to emotional worldwide audiences. His 2015 project Full Out, starring the iconic Jennifer Beals, is a feature based on the true story of gymnast Ariana Berlin, also on Netflix, as well as NBC and Lifetime in the U.S., and Disney Europe. In 2017, Cisterna was awarded a Canada 150 Citizenship Award for Thought Leadership by the Federal Government for his dedication to and community engagement in the arts.
