Enderby Canada Acquires Los Angeles-Based VFX Company CHARIOTDRIVE
KELOWNA
Enderby Entertainment is expanding global operations in Canada with a feature film and television production office in Kelowna, British Columbia. Entertainment CEO Rick Dugdale made the announcement today adding that veteran entertainment screenwriter Todd Ireland will serve as Executive Vice President for Enderby Entertainment Canada.
In its first acquisition, Enderby Entertainment Canada has brought on VFX company Chariotdrive, whose operations will relocate to British Columbia in the coming months and merge under the new Enderby Canada banner.
“We’ve fortunately been able to see the growth of the Okanagan region and all the work Jon Summerland has done with the film commission there. The groundwork for the large-scale film industry has been laid, and in concert with the team at Chariotdrive, we now can bring our international film business home to Canada,” said Dugdale, who’s most recent WWII drama RECON, which shot in the region, hits theatres for Remembrance Day.
Dugdale continues, “I’m so proud to open our second office in Kelowna, British Columbia with Todd Ireland at the helm. Todd’s ability to cover all facets of production experience as well as his accolades as a successful screenwriter with equaled passion to tell the stories of the Indigenous communities in Canada make him a perfect addition to our executive team.”
“There is an opportunity to fill international pipelines with content that is authentically Canadian, as so much of our story has been left to tell,” Ireland says. “After working with Rick for over 20 years, I’m thrilled to team up with Enderby and help bring these stories to the big screen.”
Ireland was most recently nominated for the 2019 Writers Guild of Canada Awards and most known for his work on Netflix’s The Guardian Code as well as Syfy’s Original Series “Continuum.”
Chariotdrive’s impressive resume includes post-production work for top entertainment behemoths like Apple, Sonos, MTV, HBO, Netflix, and Facebook. From visual effects, production, and finishing work all the way to augmented and virtual reality, Chariotdrive is a leader in commercial, industrial, web, TV, and new media projects.
“Creative collaboration has been Chariotdrives motivating force since our inception and we are looking forward to becoming part of Enderby Entertainment’s incredible vision,” said Ian Duncan, Founder and Managing Partner for Chariotdrive. “We are excited to build on that vision with a platform of the next-generation post and visual effects services for productions worldwide. Family is everything to us and we are thrilled that Enderby has welcomed us into theirs.”
Enderby Entertainment was founded in 2006, and since then, the company has produced 18 feature films in just more than a decade. Enderby’s global following has earned the company a strong reputation as a key production house for the international market as well as the domestic pipeline.
Recently, Dugdale reached uncharted territory producing XCII, a feature film shot virtually in 17 countries during the 2020 global pandemic without a single handshake. Dugdale’s slate also includes the recent Hakän Nesser’s INTRIGO Anthology (distributed by Lionsgate) starring Ben Kingsley, Gemma Chan, Benno Fürman, Carla Juri, Phoebe Fox, and Jeff Fahey and the upcoming release, RECON, in theaters, November, 10th.
